Gale Anne Hurd visiting WIFT Caucasus

Gale Anne Hurd, producer of The Terminator, The Walking Dead, Armageddon, Aliens and other world-famous films will be visiting Georgia from 15 to 23 September. The prominent Hollywood producer was invited by WIFT Caucasus. There are various events planned across the country, which includes her meetings with filmmakers, visiting several regions of the country, screening the her film Mankiller and holding a panel.

Co-organized by WIFT Caucasus and Creative Europe Desk Georgia and supported by the USAID Economic Security Program and Tbilisi City Hall, Paul Thiltges 50/50 Masterclass in Co-production, Sales & Distribution will take place in Tbilisi @ Fabrika Hotel on 24-25 September, 2019.

WIFTI President Ms. Helene Granqvist visited WIFT Caucasus in Tbilisi, Georgia

July 8-9, 2019 Ms. Helene Granqvist, president of Women in Film & Television International, visited WIFT Caucasus in Tbilisi, Georgia. She has met with successful and powerful women who are experienced in women's rights in the region.

Atendees of the event, including Ms. Tata Tsopurashvili, Ms. Salome Tsopurashvili, Ms. Medea Metreveli, Ms. Tamar Gurchiani, have discussed various issues facing women of film and tv in the region.

WIFT Caucasus Officially Established

On July 5, 2019 Women in Film & Television - Caucasus (WIFT Caucasus) was officially established in Tbilisi, Georgia.

The founders are:

  • Nana Ekvtimishvili - President;

  • Nino Devdariani - Executive Manager;

  • Tsiako Abesadze - Director of International Development.

The founders are in the process of selecting 9 board members from Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan (at least 4 members from Armenia and Azerbaijan).

Women in Film & Television International’s members are established and renowned creatives and craftspeople, who make up a crucial part of international film and media community.

We would like to express our grave concern over the events that took place in Tbilisi, Georgia on June 20. We hope for prompt and transparent reaction from the responsible authorities to ensure peaceful and safe working environment for all members of the media.

In partnership with our newly established chapter Women in Film & Television Caucasus we continue to empower and support all members of the media, especially women, for the freedom of expression, and their rights to work with respect in their chosen profession.

Caucasus region is unique with its history and culture, and the country of Georgia plays an important role in the development of the region and offers beautifully diverse and rich untouched nature, subtropical coastal alpine mountains, deserts and beautiful forests.”
